🐺 The Halloween Issue šŸŽƒ

Tricks, Treats, and Tales

October’s here, so let’s get spooky. Whether you’re into scaring the hell out of yourself or just using it as an excuse to gorge on candy and hack up pumpkins, this issue’s got treats—and a few tricks—that’ll keep Halloween interesting. I’ve already spent too much time changing the logo and making some text orange, so crack open a pumpkin ale, and let’s get into it before I regret everything.

The Radar

Lookie Here

  • Haunted Air - Book full of anonymous Halloween photographs from c.1875–1955—truly haunting Americana, with a foreword by David Lynch

  • Over the Garden Wall is a quirky, darkly charming adventure that feels like a spooky campfire tale with a twist! voices include Elijahs Woods or whoever that main Hobbit was in LOTR. It’s become a tradition to watch in my household.

  • Into 3d printing? If you’re going the DIY cosplay route this H-ween, you can find some killer files here and here. One is Star Wars heavy, but very well designed.

  • I bought this Map in Black ($20) while visiting the Mothman Museum a while back and it’s pretty killer if you’re at all into Cryptids or haunted sites/areas.

  • šŸŽ¹ Donovan (YouTube) - Kick off the Season of the Witch with some trippy psychedelia vibes! (12m views on that audio only vid is hella impressive)

What’s your best costume ever?

I’d love to hear what your best costume ever was. šŸŽƒ Reply to this sucker and let me know. And please don’t say The Crow from when you were in high school. I have an inbox filter so those go straight to the trash. šŸ¦ļø

Vibes

In my eyes, the best animation Disney ever produced was the Silly Symphonies from 1929-1939. The skeleton gif above is from that. Lot of vintage coolness if you dig in.

Looking for a Horror Movie List? Refinery29 has got your back.

I’m a huge soundtrack/score nerd, so I always like to shift focus to spooky shit during the season. My favorite of the moment is It Follows by Disasterpiece. The movie is great, but the score is something else.

Ye ā€˜ol reminder - My subject lines will always include the ā€œšŸŗā€ emoji to make them easy to spot.

Until next time, keep moving forward.
